Albany to Exmouth
Albany
This town lies in the florishing hills which fringe King George Sound, one of the finest
deepwater ports in Oz. Albany is a fishing port and agricultural centre, it is also one of
Oz's leading holiday destinations. It is dubbed 'Gem of the Southern Ocean', with its
harbours, rivers and estuaries, which provide that great fishing. Its sandy beaches,
rugged coastline and nearby mountains offer a wide variety of activity.
Augusta
Augusta has vistas of trees and tranquil esuary waters with the wild ocean.. it is a
beautiful destination. It holds an interesting historical background, some attractions
include caves, forests, wildflower displays, calm & cool rivers and that wonderful
rugged coastline. Its main industry are beef, sheep and dairy farming.
Avon Valley
This is the oldest inland settlement in WA. The area from Beverley in the south to Toodyay
in the north contains a number of places of historic interest. There are many restored
farms and homesteads. This town was a staging and supply post for the rich goldfields in
Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie. Is today a popular tourist venue.
Broome
Known as oldest pearl-lugging port but is a popular tourist resort. In winter, city folk
tend to escape to Broome from the southern cold, finding it a warm and friendly change
from their own climates. It has thrived for over a century. It has a multicultural
community, consisting of Japanese, Chinese, Keopanger, Malays and Australians of both
Aboriginal and European origin. Some attractions are colonial and oriental style buildings
which give Broome an exotic atmosphere, an old Japanese cemetery, beaut white beaches,
dinosaur footprints, a police mus. and the wrecks of three Royal Dutch Air Force flying
boats which lie half-buried in the sands of Roebuck Bay.

Bunbury
The largest town in WA, set outside the metropolitan area. It is constantly expanding
industrially and holds natural and man-made resources, including agricultural lands,
minerals and timber. Also several museums.
Busselton
Is a seaside town overlooking the calm waters of Geographe Bay. It is a pop holiday centre
with main features as picturesque beaches, coves & caves and many historical sites.
Other attractions include the Bannamah Wildlife Park and Yallingup Cave, the only natural
tuart forest in the world! It is also an important town for the dairy and fat lamb
industries, for sheep and pig farming and for timber milling, wine making and commercial
fishing.
Carnarvon
Located at mouth of Gascoyne centre for the rich surrounding distict. It is noteable for
its flourishing plantations of bananas and other tropical fruits, all grown with the aid
of water pumped from the sands of the Gascoyne River. It is important town for the wool
industry, prawn and scallop processing and solar salt extraction. Attractions are
blowholes, fossil pools and pop fishing sites.
The O.T.C Telescope
Coolgardie
Located 520Km W of Perth, it came into existence wit the discovery of gold by Arthur
Bayley and William Ford who extracted app $80 000 worth of gold in 1892. The town was
filled by many easterners, after the crash of the Victorian bank at that time. The last
goldmine closed in 1950's but much of the excitement still remains. There are many mus.
holding displays to the gold era. Also there is many Aboriginal artefacts and a camel farm
Denmark
This former timber town is best known for its magnificent stands of karri and marri trees.
Other attractions inc. swimming and fishing on nearby Wilson Inlet and surfing on
Ratcliffe Bay a few Km to the S. To the N is Goundrey Wines, Mount Shadforth and its
scenic drive.
Derby
Overlooking King Sound in the State's far north-west, Derby is one of the best known towns
of the Kimberley region. It is an important administrative centre for diamond industries.
El Caballo Blanco
Located 60Km E of Perth in the Darling Range its attractions are the Andalusian dancing
horses and the Bodeguero Stud.
Esperance
It lies on the SW coast and overlooks a brilliant blue bay, magnificent headlands and
endless rolling plains. Since 1954 it has been transformed from a stuggling farmland into
rich fertile pastures (my sister's backyard). The main attraction are wildflowers during
spring and several museums with natural geographic features.
Eucla
Located on Eyre Highway, it is noted for its old telegraph station, located near Wilson
Bluff. To the E the hghway follows the cliffs overlooking the Great Australian Bight from
which many excellent views can be obtained of the Southern Ocean. Further West is Koonalda
Cave but entry is prohibited (pretend u didn't know!)
Exmouth
It is one of the newest towns in port town for the US Naval Communications Base, it offers
year-round fishing. Other attractions include picturesque beaches, the Harold E. Holt
Naval Communications Base, Vlaming Head Lighthouse Lookout, the Cape Range National Park
and an abundance of wildlife.
