Queensland is located North/East of Australia in the subtropical and tropical
belt and is referred to as 'the sunshine state', no wonder ha? Queensland (my personal favourite)
offers a mass range of wild attractions, one of the greatest of these being
'The Great Barrier Reef'! Not to forget the chain of wonderful resorts
towns & islands up and down the coast, its tropical forests, mountain ranges, gemfeilds,
expired gold-rushes, Aboriginal Arts & the many available fishing lakes, rivers & streams - oh
gee I nearly forgot to mention the wonderful surf (at Surfer's Paradise). Queensland has wonderful
landscaping and is a relaxing place to visit, it attracts botanists, artists, photographers, bushwalkers,
fishermen and ofcourse tourists!
History Time
Queensland was orginally a part of the New South Wales (NSW) penal colony.
The convicts were moved out in 1842 then settlers were able to vacate Qld or whatever they
called it then. At this time there were still many areas unexplored by Europeans, however,
the South-east (the richer part) was quickly vacated after the discovery of gold - then ofcourse
there was the Gold-Rushes, (which is personally one of the most boring history topics I ever studied, I'll cover it breifly anyway!)
These are some of the spectacular sites you will observe in Brisbane
Noosa River, runs right through the fast growing community at Noosa Waters. This is one of the most sucessful areas for residents buying house & Land! No wonder people wanna live here - just look at the astonishing views and there is always plenty of activities - with its parklands, rivers and shopping cities! Under Interesting Places you will find Noosa Heads, which is more of a tourist attraction with its resorts, malls & beaches!
A mother sitting with her kids at a park in Toowoomba, lake Annand to be exact! Toowoomba is Qld's largest inland city. It's located 130Km west of Brisbane (I can still remember the long journeys when my sister studied psychology in law there). Ok, some features: beautiful gardens (obviously), shady parks, mmm lucious tree-lined streets, oh and here I read that it is known as Qld's Garden City (maybe that's what the TV refers to as Garden City???)
Horseshoe Bay, Bowen, lovely isn't it? Ok, Bowen is situated 1000Km North of Brisbane - something I'll never see in that case (I hate long journeys)! It is midway of Mackay and Townsville, both wonderful places, wonderful novelties. Founded in 1861 tells me, my reliable book and was the first white settelement north of Rockhampton, oh and it served as a base for the exploration and settlement of Nth Qld, now that is important!
Now you've got the basic idea you can check out some pictures of
Attractions or you can go check out some
Interesting places, with small images!
once again, don't forget to look at my fav, "The Great Barrier Reef" :))
