New South Wales the 'Premier State'

NSW is Australia's oldest and most populous state in Australia. Its capital, Sydney, is regarded as the hub of the South Pacific. The state encompasses the ACT, or Australia Capital Territory. Its 1100Kms of coastline are renowned for supurb surfing beaches (like Qld) and its fine coastal ranges and National Parks are an attraction for tourists World Wide! The 16 week ski-season attracts many of the less-fortunate Australians, like myself, who don't have the benefit of snow:( This state offers plenty of recreational activities, with its fantastic cave systems and semidesert plains, along with its lakes, river systems and ocean inlets!

History Time
The colony of NSW became official on 7 February 1788, at Sydney Cove. At first Nsw dominated the entire eastern section of Australia, including Tasmania, (Tas). Today the state only occupies app. 10% of Australia's land mass.

Economy
The State's major industry is seafood. Whaling and Sealing were the State's first major industry, helping sustain a growing colony in the early years. Whaling was banned in 1978, thank God, however, fisheries still play an important role in the economy. Today, the school prawn and eastern king prawn are being harvested off the coast of Nsw's, contributing to a national industry worth $100M per year. The oyster harvest make up more than 90% of Australia's annual production of some 9M Kg of Oysters. The World Wide renowned oyster, "Sydney Rock Oyster", its annual production is valued over $12M a year! Sad for the sea-stock, however good for economy.

Blue Mountains National Park, one of the most scenic Parks I'v ever seen! Very nice park located about half-way down the E coast. The second picture is of Wentworth Falls which, once again is located in this park (BMNP). Obviously at a very high altitute, atleast you get to view the surrounding mountains and gorges!

Mount Warning, this was once listed in Tasmania by stupid me but this time I'm right, its actually NSW's own. Reaching the clouds by morning this is one panoramic mountain.

National Parks
Although I don't have any pictures, believe me that these parks are equally as lovely as the ones above!

Budawang National Park is the first I am going to mention. It is located in south-eastern NSW, the rugged wilderness! The main attraction of this 16 000 hectare park is the spectacular Currowan Falls, located upper Currowan Creek. The park offers walking tracks, rock-climbing areas (for the experienced) and Bush Camping. Accomodation, motels and hotels that is, along side of camping facilities are available at Braidwood and Batemans Bay.

Finally, just this park here, Kosciusko National Park, I thought might be of interest. Its location - South-eastern NSW, it encompasses (da-dadada) the highest mountains and most extensive snowfields in Australia! What else, let me see... oh, the main feature of the 629 708 hectare park are: the grand standing 'Mount Kosciusko', ofcourse (2228M); the major ski fields; the dams, pipelines and power stations of the Snowy Mountain Hydro-Electric system (if you're into that stuff); the thermal pools and limestone caves of Yarrangobilly Valley (coincidentally I was just looking at Limestone plateaus, if you've never seen them then you don't know what you're missing out on!); the historic gold-mining town of Kiandra and the wilderness areas of Mount Jagungal, the Bogong and the Pilot.
